LASIK and PRK are not interchangeable travel products. Suitability depends on a complete eye examination, prescription stability, corneal findings, eye health, medicines and expectations. Ask the treating ophthalmic team to explain why a procedure is recommended, its alternatives, material risks and the follow-up route before you book travel.

What to confirm before you book

  • Confirm who performs the examination and surgery and where care takes place.
  • Ask which measurements determine candidacy and whether they must be repeated.
  • Discuss alternatives, possible side effects and realistic visual goals.
  • Agree the review schedule, urgent contact route and return-flight timing.

Ask for a written plan

The written plan should identify the treating facility and professional, explain what is included, state the follow-up route and separate clinical decisions from travel coordination.

Frequently asked questions

Is laser eye surgery suitable for everyone?
No. Only an eye-care professional can determine suitability after a complete assessment.
Does newer technology remove all risk?
No. Equipment matters, but it does not eliminate individual risks or the need for informed consent and follow-up.
